Week 4: Love
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
(John 3:16-17)

PRAYER:
God of Love,
At Advent, we reflect that the greatest gift of pure love was Jesus, the Savior of the world. Love came to us as an infant child.
Help us to see ourselves and others the way you see them, through the eyes of unconditional love and mercy. We know God loves us just as we are, are we are called to do the same.
Help us to accept Your love which casts out all fear. Give us the courage to demonstrate your love in our actions and words.
Help us to embrace your love knowing that we are then called to bring about a transformation of heart in others.
Jesus, grant that we will reveal to the world we are Your disciples by the love we show to others, keeping You close in our hearts.
Amen.

Activity
Candy Cane Heart Ornament
Candy Canes can be a good reminder of God’s love. The shape reminds us of the shepherd’s hook, as God guides and cares for us. The red stripe is a reminder of Jesus’s love and sacrifice for us and the white reminds us of his resurrection.
Materials:
- Red and White or Silver Pipe cleaners
- String
- Hot glue
Instructions:
Twist red and white or red and silver pipe cleaners and shape them into a letter “J” or candy cane shape. Make two pipe cleaner candy canes. Align pipe cleaner candy canes so they make a heart and carefully glue into the heart-shape. To make an ornament, attach a bit of thread or string to the heart.
